She died Sept. 26, 2006, in hospice care. She was born in Nashville, Tenn., and grew up in Enid, Okla. She taught ceramics in her home studio and reared her family in Rochester where she worked as public relations director of River Trails Girl Scout Council. In the early 1970s, she worked to organize the Women’s Institute for Lifelong Learning. She worked for 23 years for Mayo Clinic in Rochester and Scottsdale as a writer and editor for the department of communications and in the development office in Mayo Scottsdale.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Dean “T-Bone"; a son, Robb of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and a brother, Roger Klingman of Wichita, Kan.
