JOSEPH JOHN KLIMENT
(1916 - 2008)

Joseph John Kliment, age 92, a Manitowoc resident, met his Lord on Monday evening, Sept. 29, 2008, at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.

Joseph was born on June 18, 1916, in the town of Gibson, Manitowoc County. He was the son of the late Joseph and Ottillia (Novy) Kliment. He was a graduate of Mishicot High School, with the class of 1934. Joseph entered the U.S. Army in 1942, and served overseas for two and one half years during World War II. In 1946, he was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant. He was employed at the Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry for 25 years. On Jan. 25, 1949, he married Janet B. Strehlow in Dubuque, Iowa. She preceded him in death on June 19, 2008. Joseph was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He is survived by five sons: Calvin Kliment and special friend, Dawn Walters, Manitowoc, Gary (Diane) Kliment, Fond du Lac, Randy (Vickie) Kliment, Manitowoc, Daryl (Lisa) Kliment, Manitowoc, and Kurt (June) Kliment, Manitowoc; 12 grandchildren: Amy (Trent) Nelson, Manitowoc; Paul (rick) Rosinsky, Alabama; Kacy Kliment and special friend, Ashley O'Connell, Florida; Krista (Aaron) Curtis, Freedom; Jayme Kliment, Manitowoc; Jacob Kliment, currently serving in the U.S. Navy; Kalep (Hailey) Kliment, currently serving in the U.S. Navy; Jana and Lauren Kliment, Manitowoc; and Jennifer, Stephanie and Alyssa Kliment, Manitowoc; one great-grandson: Andrew Kliment; and one sister: Marcella Trost, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Janet B. Kliment, of 59 years; two sisters: Alice Halverson and Ann Swetlik; three brothers-in-law: Russell Halverson; Al Staudinger; and Steve Swetlik; two brothers: Ervin Kliment and Alvin Kliment; and two sisters-in-law: Olive Kliment and Evelyn Kliment.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Revs. Paul Schossow and Nicholas Maglietto officiating. Cremation will follow with burial of the cremains to be at Knollwood Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, from 5 to 7 p.m., and at the church on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.

Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church or the donor's choice.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
