Billy Bernard Lawrence, 89, of Martinsville, passed away on May 28, 2019. He was born on May 23, 1930, in Henry County, to Jennie Holley Lawrence and Henry Meredith Lawrence. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Helen Lawrence Johnston. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Granbery United Methodist Church and was also a member of many clubs and organizations, including: American Legion, VFW, Elks, Moose, TPA, Virginia Beer Wholesaler Association, National Beer Wholesalers Association and Virginia Wine Wholesalers Association. He received the National Beer Wholesalers Association Life Service Award and the Danville-Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce Enduring Enterprise Award. He was the Founder and Owner of Lawrence Distributing Company and was the Owner of Billy Lawrence Farms. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dovie "Shirley" Lawrence; daughters, Linda Lawrence Dalton (Barry) and Sandra Lawrence Funderburk (Tim); five grandchildren. Burial will be at Roselawn Burial Park
