Kyler Lars Curtis, 23, of Springville Utah passed away unexpectedly while camping with his family on May 26, 2019.
Kyler was welcomed into this world by his parents Kendall and Kandy, on March 2nd, 1996. We all joked he was born half grown at a whopping 9lbs 10oz. Even as a small boy people complimented the “little man who was wise beyond his years.” To family he was known as “Ky-man.”
Kyler’s first love was his mom Kandy. He was always looking for ways that he could help and make her smile. When Kyler was younger it was really hard for Kandy to get mad at him for being naughty because if she did, he would always say “I’m sorry Mom” and she knew it came from his heart. If given a choice of where he could be it was at home spending time with his family. In Kyler’s opinion, there was no better person in the world than her, and no better place to eat than her kitchen table.
Kyler put his heart and soul into being a brother to McKayla, his big sister. The bond that formed between Kyler and his big sister is like no other. They would laugh, cry, fight, and hug tight to each other. In the end, their heart and soul connection will stand the test of time. Being the big brother to Kollin and Kooper, Kyler was always there when they needed him. He gave them a solid example to look up to and strive to be like. He taught them and pushed them to see the potential he saw in them. Kyler stood up for and protected them but he would put them in their place if needed. But most of all he cherished them and the bond they shared as brothers. Kyler was proud of them and the men they have become.
Kyler’s love of diesel trucks came from his love for his Dad. All he wanted to do was be just like him. Kyler could always be found working on the Bronco or his truck, “Karl”. He was continually finding ways to improve it or tweak something here or there. This passion fueled him to work hard.
Kyler was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Springville High Class of 2014. In May of this year he had graduated with his Associates Applied Science Degree in Diesel Mechanics Technology from Utah Valley University. He also competed in the SkillsUSA State Competition for diesel mechanics and took 1st Place. He was looking forward to competing at Nationals this summer.
Kyler was a spitting image of his Papa Red. Like his Papa, Kyler was a “Master Tinkerer” and a fixer of everything. He possessed a no-hurry attitude and a very tender heart. Kyler was always willing to lend a helping hand and serve those in need. He had a special way with people, babies, and kids. Kyler loved everyone and everyone loved him. He was an incredible brother, son, nephew, cousin, and friend. Kyler was anxiously waiting to become an uncle and we know that he is loving on his little niece in heaven preparing her to join her family here on earth.
Kyler's testimony of his Father in Heaven and the Savior Jesus Christ was unwavering and strong. Just days before his passing, Kyler was endowed in the Provo City Center Temple in preparation to be married and sealed to the love of his life Erin Eliason on June 7, 2019. Kyler and Erin completed each other. They adored one another in every way. They were best friends and constant companions. The bond they shared cannot be broken and we know that he will remain by her side to comfort her. They loved each other and they will continue to love each other until the day they meet again.
