Jane was taken in by George Craig and Jane Lowry family. George first wife Elizabeth Morton passed away in 1818. They had several kids. After she pass away, Jane Lowry help George with the children, Eventually , they got married and had several more children.
Her birth parents were Solomon Head and Sarah Sally Coon . There were 7 children in the family.

Jane married Samuel Craig on February 15, 1836, in Edgar, Illinois. They had six children.
1. Ranzel Craig He was born around 1841-1842 and died on January 12, 1863, at Fort Scott, KS. He was in the Civil War on the Union side. He was a private in Company G, 2nd Cavalry. He enlisted on Dec 11, 1861 and muster out on 12 of Jan 1863. He died of his wounds that he received. He was bury at Fort Scott, National Cemetry
2. Mary Samantha Craig born on October 9, 1843 in Oakland, Illinois and died on December 2, 1948, at the age of 105 years old . She married Amos Stephens on December 22, 1861 in Brownville, Nebraska. They had 12 children of this union. (Several of her children, used the name Stevens. One of her daughters, was teased about the name Stephens. They were called her Step hens. So, they change their names Stevens.) There are several of her children that she outlives them. Andrew Jackson 1862-1911, Pheobe Ellen 1864-1930, Sarah Jane 1866-1935Minnie Viola 1868-1868, Margaret Emma 1870-1945, Marion 1873-1961 , Mulen (twin) 1873-1925, Cordelia 1876-1883, Stella May 1878-1960, Myrtle Belle 1880-1959, Nellie Blanche 1886-1978 and Amos Lloyd Stephens 1890-1891. There were several books written about her life story. She led a very exciting life.
3. William W. Craig born in 1847 in Wisconsin and die on Aug 9, 1862 in Lake Providence, Louisiana.
4. Martha Ellen Craig born on May 29, 1849, in Boscobel, Wisconsin and died on April 4, 1926, in Brownville, NE. She married Thomas Henry Stephens On March 3, 1970, in Nemaha, Ne. From this blessed union, they had 9 children. (These are my grandparents.) Thomas A. Stephens was my dad. Phebe Ellen Stephens was my aunt
5. James L. Craig born on December 31, 1851, in Wisconsin and died on October 25, 1941, in Nance County, Nebraska, at the age of 62. They have four children.
6. Jonathan Nathaniel Craig born on March 31, 1856, in Brown County, Wisconsin and died on March 13, 1925 in Rock Port, MO. He was married twice. First was with Sarah Jane Brown. They had 4 children. Then he married Laura Belle Millsap , they had 3 children.
