BELLANTUONO, JoAnn V. (Villano)
JoAnn V. (Villano) Bellantuono, 75, of Suffield, entered eternal life on Friday, (July 29, 2011). She was the widow of Anthony J. Bellantuono (1976) and daughter of the late Joseph and Marion (Cowles) Villano. She was predeceased by a sister Rosemarie Villano. JoAnn was born on July 5, 1936, in Hartford, CT, was a graduate of Newington H.S. in 1954 and Becker Junior College. She later went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree of Women's Literature from Our Lady of the Elms College, Chicopee, MA. JoAnn resided in the Enfield area for many years and most recently in Suffield. She retired from Asnuntuck Community College as Director of Community Service after 23 years. She also was former director of the University of the Third Age Program and honorary board member. JoAnn was very active in numerous clubs and civic organizations such as: Girl Scouts, Hazardville F.D. Women's Auxiliary, Republican Town Committee, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Ladies Auxiliary, North Central CT Chamber of Commerce, and Enfield Jaycees and Past President of the Jaycee Wives. She was also treasurer for Aurora Color Guard, a Justice of the Peace, and Exchange Student Host for many years. While residing at Suffield by the River, she assisted the Recreational Director and enjoyed playing bingo, PO-KE-NO and Texas Hold 'em Poker. JoAnn was the beloved mother of three children: Rosemarie "RB" Curtis and her husband, Larry, of East Granby, Stephen Bellantuono of Old Saybrook and his fiancé, Jeni Skukowski, and Toni D'Agostino and her husband, Michael, of Redding. She was a loving "Nana" to Brielle and Kaley Curtis, Ashley and Anthony Bellantuono, and Cooper and Riley D'Agostino. She will be dearly missed by her family, along with her two "adopted sons" Joe Bray and Tom Audet, her very special sister-in-law Jo Lanza, along with many other in-laws, nieces and nephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Tuesday (Aug. 2), from 4-8 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43, Shaker Rd., Enfield. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday (Aug. 3,) 9 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church, Enfield. Interment will take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery, King St., Enfield.
