No grave marker found but died in Jackson County and possibly buried in the Birdwell Cemetery.
James Birdwell bought land in Washington County, Alabama on Jan. 13, 1813, perhaps for speculation (ref., "Descendants of Original Benjamin Birdwell"), but perhaps the land was awarded bounty land for service? He did not live in Washington County apparently.
