At the end of WWII, her high school classmate, 1st Lt. Herbert Baird, returned from England and asked her to marry him in 1946. They remained married for 51 years and had one child, Pam.
Eva and Herbert lived in Caribou, Maine, for the majority of their years together where she worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses, including The Aroostook Republican and Solomon Distributors. She and Herbert retired to St. Albans, Maine, and she spent the last years of her life at the Atria Assisted Living Facility in Sanford, Florida, to be near her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam Baird Bloom and husband, Kenneth; grandson, Matthew Bloom; granddaughter, Jessica Kiffer and husband James; and three great-grandchildren: Christian, Luellyn and Grayson Kiffer.
She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert James Baird.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Route 152, Hartland, with Pastor Tom Brown officiating.
