After volunteering for the Spanish-American War, Frederick died of typhoid fever. Though his obituaries place him in Green-Wood in Brooklyn, Greenfield's office confirms that Fred, his parents and brothers are all interred in Greenfield on Long Island.
Unfortunately, there are no headstones for any of the Abels residing here in Section 30. The graves are just to the right of the headstone for Roselle V. Palmer Felton.
