MOREY – Elmer “Zoom”, 83, of Nanty Glo, fell asleep in the hands of God on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.

Born November 25, 1934 in Vintondale, son of the late John and Freda (Anderson) Morey. Preceded in eternal rest by brothers John, Rudy, and James; sisters Irene, Helen, and Dorothy. Elmer was the last surviving sibling.

Survived by his wife of 59 years, Anna “Babe” (Evanicsko) Morey; and his four children: Andrea (Terrance) O’Toole; John; Jeannine (Kevin) Boring; and Marina (Thomas) Sell. Also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Michaela and Nicholas O’Toole and Nathanael Sell, his family favorites, of whom he was so very proud.

Elmer retired from Bethlehem Steel, where he operated the crane at the wire mill. Elmer loved being a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church in Nanty Glo, where he was on the Advisory Council and also served as an officer of the Men’s Club.

Elmer will most be remembered for his eternal love for his church and family, and especially for his gift of playing violin. Taught by his father, Elmer so taught his children, John and Jeannine, and granddaughter, Michaela, how to play the violin. He loved playing for and with anyone who enjoyed music, and he especially adored playing with his granddaughter, and all of his dear, dear friends at Malcotti’s Tavern. His soul really sweetened this world, and he will be so greatly missed by so very many.

Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where Parastas will be held 7:30 p.m. A viewing will also be held from 10 a.m. until time of Divine Liturgy at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, the Reverend Father Robert F. Oravetz. Interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Nanty Glo. In lieu of flowers donations in Elmer’s memory may be made to St. Nicholas Church.
