Perry was a Mono county Supervisor. The 1892 Bodie fire started in the restaurant building operated by Mrs. James Perry.Born in either 1832 or 1833. He served as the Mono County Supervisor. The 1932 fire, which devastated much of the business district of Bodie, started in a restaurant run by his wife.

Deceased. – Supervisor James B. Perry, of Bodie, died on Tuesday, after a long spell of sickness. He was a native of Ireland and aged 61 years, and has been a resident of Bodie for many years, and was much respected, having been elected Supervisor in a Republican district.
