Retired Uniroyal foreman
BETHANY — Earle Cameron Root Sr., 85, entered into peaceful rest on June 17, 2007, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Margaret (Pelley) Root.
Mr. Root was born April 9, 1922, in Woodbridge, son of the late Benjamin H. and Estelle (Blake) Root. He was a retired foreman of Uniroyal Chemical Co., Synthetics Division, in Naugatuck. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, having served in the European, African and Pacific Theaters of Operations.
He was a member of the David S. Miles Post 174, American Legion in Oxford, a life member of Post 2448 Veteran's of Foreign Wars in Bethany, and a member of the Shepherd-Salem Lodge No. 78, A.F. and A.M. in Naugatuck. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church in Seymour.
Besides his wife, he leaves his loving family including three sons, Earle C. Root Jr. of Beacon Falls, David A. Root and his fiancé, Bernadette Warns of Ansonia, and Matthew B. Root and his fiancé, Elivan Castellanos of Derby; three daughters, Dena Forbes and her husband, Leslie, of Wallingford, Jane Raccio and her companion, Ron Formica, of Naugatuck, and Estelle B. Daum and her fiancé, David Plante of Shelton; seven sisters, Marion Senderoff of Boca Raton, Fla., Joyce Blewett of Ansonia, June Hennessey and her husband, Joseph, of Southbury, Mary White of Bethany, Nancy Rich of Woodbridge, Audrey Waskewicz and her husband, Joseph, of Seymour, and Karen Root of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two sistersin- law, Doris Johnston of Malden, Mass., Irene Duell and her husband, Wayne, of Englewood, Fla.; and his brother-in-law, Rev. Richard Pelley and his wife, Iris, of Rumford, R.I. His daughter, Margaret May Root, brothers, Thomas, David and Benjamin Root, and his sister, Edna Flemming, are deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Thursday from Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church St., Seymour, to Trinity Episcopal Church, 91 Church St., Seymour, for a service of Requiem Eucharist at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in Northwest Cemetery, Woodbridge. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
