Augustine married Jane Eppes (Fraser ) Blunt on November 24, 1812. She was the daughter of Simon and Elizabeth (Poythress)Fraser and widow of Robert Blunt.

Augustine was a lawyer in Greensville County, Virginia and was a member of the House of Delegates, 1830-1831, and of the Virginia Convention of 1829-1830.

His widow removed to Tipton County, Tennessee where she resided with her daughter Helen.
