PAUL DANIEL STEIN, age 87, passed away Monday, June 18, 2007 at a local hospital. He was born February 1, 1920 in the town of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to the late Joseph and Genevieve Stein. Paul proudly served his country in the 2nd Battalion of the 131st Field Artillery of the United States Army during World War 11 as well as four years as a POW-MIA. He was united in marriage on December 16, 1948 in Sugar Land, TX to Agnes Urban, who passed away in December 2006. Paul worked for the Houston Post for over 35 years before retirement. He was a member of The Lost Battalion Association and until recently, was an active member of the South Houston Senior Citizen's Center. Paul is survived by his six children Daniel Stein and wife Barbara, Genevieve Stein Phifer and husband Woody Phifer, Michael Stein and wife Lisa, Thomas Stein and wife Sherry, Timothy Stein and wife Sylvia, and James Stein. He is also survived by his grandchildren Melissa Phifer, Christopher Stein, Brent Stein, Nathan Phifer, Rachel Stein, Charles Stein, Patrick Stein, Paul Stein and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of SouthPark Funeral Home in Pearland, Texas. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
