L.D. RAGSDALE DIES CHRISTMAS AFTERNOON
Had Been Ill For Past Week- Funeral Services At Undertaking Parlors.
L.D. Ragsdale, age 73, veteran shoe repair man, and known to many Franklin residents, died suddenly on Tuesday afternoon at his home on East Jefferson street, following an illness of nine days. Mr. Ragsdale had been confined to his bed since Sunday, although he had been in failing health for some time, and had been ill for more than a week.
He had been a resident of Franklin for the past three years, having a shoe repair shop in the Blizzard block of East Jefferson street, and was a familiar sight on the streets. Members of the family knew nothing of his critical illness until they came to Franklin to tell him of the death of his daughter, just one week ago, Tuesday. Funeral services for the daughter were held last Thursday.
Funeral services for Mr. Ragsdale will be held from the Vandivier and Son funeral parlors Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with burial in Greenlawn cemetery. The body has been removed to the funeral parlors, and friends are invited to call there.
Mr. Ragsdale was born in Topeka, Kan., and had been a resident of Indiana for some time before opening his ship [sic] in Franklin. He is survived by the wife and four sons, Harry, William, Charles and Leonard Ragsdale, all of Indianapolis, and one sister, Mrs. Mona Hiatt of Noblesville.
The death of Mr. Ragsdale just one week after the death of his daughter, had reminded member of the surviving family of the death of their mother, his first wife, and another daughter, which occurred just one week apart 16 years ago.
