Son of Dr. Samuel and Jane McClellan Parsons, who was on of the pioneer physicians of Columbus. George graduated from Oxford Univeristy and was admited to the Franklin county bar. He was a Whig and attended the first Republicain state convention in Ohio. He married Jane Swan, the daughter of Judge Gustavus Swan. George Parsons daughter May Amelia married May 16, 1871 Prince De Lynar of Germany in a royal wedding in Trinity Episcopal Church in Columbus. May died in Berlin October 8th, 1920. Mr. Parsons funeral took place at the family residence on 156 Parsons Avenue, at the head of Town Street, he was one of the wealthiest citizens of Columbus and a millionaire. Parsons home later became the Columbus School for Girls 1901 - 1953 and was demolished March 15, 1954.
