James V. Verderosa Sr., 59, of Jefferson Street, died Wednesday (April 13, 1994) after being stricken while driving in the 10th race at Vernon Downs. Born on Dec. 11, 1934, in Brooklyn, he was the son of James and Teresa Basile Verderosa. Mr. Verderosa was educated in Brooklyn. He was self-employed as a horse trainer and a driver at Saratoga Raceway. Mr. Verderosa married Anna C. Verderosa on Aug. 13, 1955. She died in September of 1977. He served during peacetime in the United States Army and had lived in Saratoga Springs since 1969. Mr. Verderosa was a member of the Northeastern Harness Horsemen's Association. Survivors include one son, James V. Verderosa Jr. of Saratoga Springs; one daughter, Joann V. Verderosa of Saratoga Springs; and several cousins. Services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Monday at the Tunison Funeral Home, 105 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs, followed by a Funeral Mass at noon at St. Peter's Church of Saratoga Springs. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery in Saratoga Springs. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Northeastern Harness Horsemen's Disaster Fund, P.O. Box 77, Saratoga Springs, 12866.
