Motion Picture and Television Art Director, Production Designer. Three-time Academy Award winner. He won Best Art Direction-Set Decoration Oscars for his work on "The Bad and the Beautiful" (1952), "Julius Caesar" (1953), and "Ben Hur" (1959). Some of his other work can be seen on the landmark television series "The Twilight Zone" (1959), and features such as Clint Eastwood's "Pale Rider" (1985), the science fiction classic "Soylent Green" (1973), and the controversial "Looking For Mr. Goodbar" (1977). He was also a member of the 1940 United States Olympic fencing team.
