"A. B. Davis, an old settler in this county died today at his home, 2020 East Wall street, after a lingering illness, of dropsy. He was one of the oldest settlers that lived in the county and was well known among the citizens and also in the farming districts, as he had lived here for some time, and was a retired farmer.
He was born in 1833 and came to this county when he was 52 years of age. He settled on a farm near here and lived on it until some time ago, when he moved to this city. He was known, as one of the most upright and honorable men around here and was respected as such. He leaves a wife, three daughters and one son to mourn their loss. The daughters are Mrs. Edna Green, of Denver; Mrs. W J. Fitzgivens, of New Orleans, and Mrs. Lula Lee, of Denver. The son C. B. Davis, a well known farmer of the Mill Creek neighborhood.
The deceased lived a life that one could point to and not show a defect. He always lived the highest ideals and was known for his honesty and integrity and leaves the record of this as a fitting monument for his well lived life. He affiliated himself with no sect, creed or order, but followed out his ideas in life with a step that spoke firmness of character.
No definite, arrangements have been made for the funeral, but it will probably be held Sunday from the Baptist church. This depends upon the word received from the daughters."
