The funeral services of Mary Jane Davis Claire were held in the Second Seventh Day Baptist church of Alfred, May 6, 1896. Sermon preached by the pastor on "The value of the soul."
The deceased was born Oct. 24, 1837, and was therefore 59 years of age. She was a peculiar sufferer for 23 years. There was some aberration of mind during these years, and in one of these attacks she took her own life. She leaves five children.
