Rickey Don Gillis was born December 20, 1952 to Charles Edward and Alma Virginia Gillis in Bristow, Oklahoma. He departed this life June 20, 2019 at the age of 66 years and six months.

Rick graduated from Bristow High School in 1971. He then attended Okmulgee Technology School where he graduated with an accounting degree in 1974.

On April 15, 1977, Rick Gillis and Jeannie Provence were united in marriage.

He enjoyed scuba diving, watching sports and attending Bristow public school events. He was always supportive to the Bristow Purple Pirates. As well, Rick was one of those people willing to extend a helping hand wherever he could. He enjoyed spending time with his best friend of over 50 years, Danny Vanzant.

Rick also wanted to honor the men that helped shape him; LeVan Kelly, who showed him the value of a hard day’s work; Dr. Stan White showed him the fundamentals of operating a business; and Dr. Jack Hale showed him how to deal with people.

Rick is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jeannie Gillis of the home; one sister, Vicki Henderson and husband Glenn of Bristow.

Funeral services: Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the Freeland Center for The Performing Arts with Reverend John Tidwell officiating. Interment is at Bristow City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Rick requested that donations be made to the Bristow Public Schools.
