Herbert Alton Cooley, 77 years old, of Washington Ave. NW, Warren Ohio, died, Sunday, August 9, 2009 3 PM , at Washington Square Health Care Center. He was born August 31, 1931 in Colbert County, Alabama, the son of the late William Oscar Cooley and the late Alta E. Shook Cooley. Herbert married Theresa Zolnak on December 29, 1976.
He was retired from ITT Grinnell Corp. and a veteran of Korea who served in the Air Force. Herbert enjoyed country music and played the guitar.
Surviving are a son, Alton & Emilia Cooley of Warren, Ohio; daughter, Carla & David Davies of Girard, Ohio; son, Randall & Darlene Mann of Morrow, GA; three stepsons, three stepdaughters, several grandchildren & great-grandchildren. four brothers: Elbert in Texas, Eldon in Alabama, Don in Mississippi and William in Alabama; and two sisters: Carolyn McCammon and Glenda Allen, both in Alabama. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Theresa M. Cooley on June 14, 1996; sister, Shirley Huckaba, brother Delbert and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 12, 2009 where friends may call one hour prior to services. Rev. Betsy Schenk will officiate. Interment will be in Pineview Memorial Park.
