Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Village Chapel for Mildred Sauls, 90, Gadsden, who passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016. Kenny Beck and David Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow at Forrest Cemetery. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Our mother and grandmother went home to be with her Lord after a lengthy illness. She was born Nov. 2, 1926, to Frank and Winnie Eads. She married Lamar Burt in 1945, and they were wed until his death in 1948. She then married Louis Sauls. Mrs. Sauls worked at all three cotton mills until her first child was born.
She was loved by everyone who knew her. Mildred was known for her kind spirit and loved doing for others, always putting herself last. She loved her children and grandchildren so much and her eyes would light up when one of them walked through the door. She will be greatly missed, but God decided she had suffered enough so he took her home, where she was more than ready to go. Mrs. Sauls loved the Lord with every ounce of her being. So through all the sadness and emptiness we feel, we take comfort knowing she is no longer in pain and that we will all be reunited some day.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Burt; son, Jim Sauls; daughter, Janice Beck; both parents; four sisters and three brothers. She was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church but had not been able to attend in some time.
Mrs. Sauls is survived her daughter, Angela Bledsoe of Gadsden; sons, Don (Kay) Sauls of Texas, Mike (Maria) Sauls of Texas; eight grandchildren, Kenny (Nina) Beck, Kristie (Scott) Bryant, Kim Kelly, Kevin (Kacie) Beck, Terry (Jami) Sauls, Kayla Sauls, BreeAnna Sauls and Bethany Sauls; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; chosen sister, Helen Shaw; chosen son, Alan Tuck; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Wes Beck, Scott Bryant, Ryan Kelly, Alvin Rhodes, Alan Tuck and Mason Rhodes.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Shaw and David Johnson.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to Camellia Hospice, especially Jessica and Brooke, and friends and neighbors who helped with her care.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
