ALBANY Nora M. Lanahan, 95, died Thursday, October 25, 2007 at St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Cashel, County Tipperary, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late John and Helena Purcell Ryan.
She emigrated to the United States as a teenager settling in NYC. She met and married John Lanahan and moved to Albany in 1933. Mrs. Lanahan worked for Metropolitian Life Insurance Company and was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church. Wife of the late John A. Lanahan; mother of William P. (Kathryn) Lanahan of Glenmont and the late John (Jean) Lanahan; grandmother of Susan (Kevin) Egan, Michael (Shannan) Lanahan, John Patrick, Timothy and Matthew Lanahan; great-grandmother of Patrick and Brendan Egan, twins Catherine and Thomas Lanahan; also survived by her sister-in-law, Marie Ryan; and several nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Jack, Michael and Patrick Ryan and her sister, Mary Gabriel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany, Today, Friday from 4-7 p.m. Interment, Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
