Born January 11, 1954, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Shirley S. Bruse and the late F. Gale Bruse. Married Colleen Longmore October 3, 1971; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Barry lived his entire life in the Salt Lake City area. Graduated from Kearns High School. Worked at Sun Lithographics as a pressman for 14 years. Received the Craftsman of the Year award in 1988. Loved to fish, hunt and repair cars.
He will be deeply missed and always loved and remembered by his wife, Colleen; son, Jamy, and daughter, Brandie; mother, Shirley and stepfather, Jack Lowrence; brothers, Todd and Rick; sisters, Susan Beaird, Lisa Johnson and Mari Chavez.
Barry's family wishes to express their gratitude to the many doctors and nurses who gave him such fine care during his illness, especially FHP & Community Nursing Service - Jeannie Lee, Janet Harris, Helen Roy, Kelly Ballew, Jane Bahr and doctors at the U of U Medical Center. Their great skills allowed Barry's life to be extended for almost 11 years beyond what everyone thought possible.
Funeral services will be held Saturday,
12 noon, at the Riverside Ward, 6020 South 1300 West. Friends may call Friday, 6-8 p.m., at McDougal Golden Rule Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Saturday, at the church, from 11-11:40 a.m.
Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
