F. D. Bowling Dies; Long-Time Resident
Frank D. Bowling, 85, of 1237 Maurer St., a resident of Cadillac for 53 years, died at his home Thursday night following a two-year illness.
He was born April 11, 1876 in Bear Lake Township, Manistee County. On Jan. 31, 1903 he was married to Edna Christofferson at Bear Lake.
The couple came to Cadillac to make their home in 1908. When living in the Bear Lake area he was a farmer and was a member of the Bear Lake Baptist Church. He had been employed for the Cummer and Diggins Company in Cadillac and his last employment was at the Cadillac Malleable Iron Company from 1923 to 1946 when he retired.
Surviving with his widow are five sons; Kenneth of Manton; Russell of Bear Lake; Leslie of Manistee; Earl and Emery, both of Cadillac; three daughters, Mrs. Ward (Agnes) Hilliard of Kaleva; Mrs. Henry (Gladys) Rheil of Traverse City and Mrs. Gerald (Norma) Beckelic of Cadillac, 43 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p. m. at the Peterson Funeral Home with graveside services to be at the Bear Lake township cemetery at 4 p. m.
