William “Brent” Oliver, 81, of Perry, died Saturday, June 29, 2019 at his home in rural Perry. He was born January 9, 1938 in Topeka, the son of William Whitmore “Bing” and Mary Isabelle Laster Oliver. He was a 1956 graduate of Perry Rural High School and he attended Washburn University before returning to farm in the Kaw bottoms. Brent owned and operated Watchman Systems Security from 1977 until his retirement in 1988, but continued to do security and internet consulting. He was an avid Ham Radio operator and had the distinction of being the youngest operator in Kansas at the age of 14. He served on the Rural Water District for southern Jefferson County for many years.
He was married to Judy Maun Courter and she preceded him in death in 1987. He married Mary Patricia Palmer on February 20, 1988 in Miami, OK, she survives at the home. Other survivors include, two sons, Brent and Byron (Lisa), and one daughter, Cynthia (Phil), one step-son, Shane (Erin), two step-daughters, Lynn (Chuck) and Kimberly, two sisters, Joyce and Sally, nine grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
Cremation Care is planned. Inurnment will be at Newman-Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date. Barnett Family Funeral Home/Jefferson County Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
