Obituary for Rosalie Gale Smith

Rosalie Gale (Hellmyer) Smith, 79, of Centralia, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born October 21, 1939 in Centralia, daughter of Herman Hellmyer and Lillian (Hayes) Hellmyer. She married James "Jim" Smith on February 22, 1979 and he survives in Centralia.
In addition to her husband of 40 years, James "Jim" Smith of Centralia, she is also survived by seven children, 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a lifelong friend: Una Kirgan and husband of Salem.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, an infant twin sister, and three brothers: Dick Hellmyer, Don Hellmyer, and Bob Hellmyer.
Rosalie worked with her husband as the Owner and Secretary of Jim Smith Tank Service for many years. She loved sewing, working outside, and being with her family. She was a lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia and a student of Trinity Lutheran School. Rosalie will be remembered as a mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt with a heart bigger than the world.
Funeral Services for Rosalie Smith will be held Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Friends may call Friday, July 5, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia and also Saturday, July 6, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Smith Family.
