Son of Henry Sherburne and Rebecca Gibbons, twin brother of Elizabeth, 1638-1693.

Captain Sherburne owned 60 acres with a home, and ran the ferry in Little Harbor (a section of Portsmouth, N.H.), New Hampshire in 1674. In 1678 he bought the old Tuck Inn at Hampton, New Hampshire, where he was a selectman in 1683 and 1688. He was captain of the militia and killed by Indians at Marquoit, near Casco Bay in New Brunswick, Maine.

He married Love Hutchins and they had several children. See her memorial for the children.
