Ada May Boone Gamblin Salmon was born near Gerster in Hickory County, MO. Her mother was Ida Virginia Boone.

Ada's mother married Virgil Augustus Crabtree in St. Clair Co, MO on 7 Jun 1888. Ada was born 5 years later. In July 1896, Ada's mother and V A Crabtree were divorced in St. Clair Co, MO. However, DNA research has proven that Virgil was not Ada's father.

In the 1900 census, Ada is listed as "SD" or step-daughter to [William] Thomas Gamblin. In the 1910 census, she is listed as Ada M Boon, step-daughter to William T Gamblin. Boone was her mother's maiden name. In the 1920 census, she is listed as Ada Salmon, wife of Jacob Salmon.

Ada married Jacob Geoffrey Salmon on 27 May 1916 in Holden, Johnson County, MO and they had 7 children:
Garnett Alphonso, Gerald Boone, Leonard Geoffrey, Virginia Maxine, Harold Dale, Dorothy Ruth and Floyd Dean.

Ada was a school teacher until she married Geoffrey.

DNA testing confirms that Ada's father was not Virgil Augustus Crabtree. Further research is ongoing by Ancestry Pro Genealogists. JPB.

Through DNA analysis, Ancestry Pro Genealogists has identified Thaddeus S Hutton (1848-1942) ( 19935023 ) as Ada's father. There was no marriage for Thaddeus and Ida Boone.
