I never met Dorothy, she had passed away before I married her son, Billy Don, in 1974. She and my Mom used to talk on the phone about Billy Don and my brother, Paul, who met each other in the Marine Corps and were in Viet Nam.
I understand that she was a very caring and loving wife and Mother. I would have liked to have known her. Billy spoke about her often; he missed her dearly. We named our daughter after her.
Dorothy was a very young 44 years when she passed away in Dallas, Texas. Services were conducted at the Spring Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. J. R. Chaney and the Rev. Homer Reynolds officiating.
My husband took me to her burial site at Restland Memorial Park. She was a Dallas area resident for 25 years.
She was a native of Ellis County and a member of the Spring Valley Baptist Church. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Red Ball Motor Freight for six years.
Dorothy had diabetes and it took its toll on her. My husband, his sister and brother all missed her dearly. They, too, have all passed away.
In loving memory of the Dorothy Lee McDaniel.
