Robert Allen Warthen, 53, of Old Gettysburg Road, Emmitsburg, died Saturday at his home.
Born in Gettysburg on Oct 7, 1935, he was the son of Grace Geneva Welty Warthen and the late Joseph Rudolph Warthen.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Brute Council 1860 of Emmitsburg, and St. Joseph's Church in Emmitsburg.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Funk Warthen; four children, Mrs. Wanda Akiyama of Vrigina Beach, Va. Robert D Warthen of Silver Spring, Md., and Daniel Warthen and Denise Warthen, both of Emmitsburg; a son-lin-law donald Akiyama of Virginia Beach, Va.; a grandson, Benjamin Joseph Akiyama of Virginia Beach, Va; and eight brothers and sisters, Louella Sappington of York, George Thomas Warthen of Cape Coral, Fla., Vivian Pounds of Winter Garden, Fla., Ann Brown of Fairfield, C. Patrick Warthen, William A. Warthen a E. Wayne Warthen, all of Emmitsburg , and Audrey E. Swomley of Dillsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday with the family meeting at 10:30 a.m. at Skiles Funderal Home in Emmitsburg to go to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. His pastor, the Rev. Father William J. Casey, will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the new St. Joseph's Cemetery in Emmitsburg. Friends may call on Monday evening at the funeral home, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Johns Hopkins Hospital Oncology Unit, 601 N. Broadway, Baltimore, Md. 21205.
