Melvin G. Conn was called home to be with the Lord on July 18, 2015. Mel was born to T.V. and Estell (Mewbourn) Conn on Dec. 28, 1949 in Cullman, Ala. At the age of 18, Mel moved to Granby, Colo., to work with his uncle.
Shortly after moving here, he met his best friend, Geneva Cautrell; it was love at first sight. After only six months Mel and Geneva were married in Alabama. They were blessed with three beautiful daughters, Sophie, Shelly, and Jennifer. Mel worked at Brodrick's Sawmill, Cautrell and Son's Excavating, CDOT, and owned Columbine Cafe and Mel's Diner. He retired from CDOT in 2013.
Mel is survived by his wife Geneva Conn, his daughters, Sophie (Bill) Strandberg, Shelly Conn, Jennifer (Travis Minear) Conn, one grandson Tucker Minear, six granddaughters, Toni (Cody) Ransom, Randi Strandberg, Kamri Strandberg, Taylor Strandberg, Haley Conn, and Tristin Minear, one great granddaughter Adalynn Ransom, and soon to be great-grandson Barrett Ransom. He is also survived by his sister Orvelene Fulenwider, two brothers Hollis (Pat) Conn, Hobert (Carolyn) Conn,brother in law Floyd (Robin) Cautrell, sister in law Dorothy Cautrell, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents T.V. and Estell Conn, one sister Melva, brothers Louie, Harold, and Brent, and one brother in-law Dave Cautrell.
