The Homecoming and burial for Emma Mae Nance Foster Moorehead (Big Mamma) of Shelbyville, Tennessee will be held from 12noon Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel, 2022 N. Main St, Shelbyville, Tennessee. The visitation will be from (11-noon). Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Tullahoma, Tennessee.
Mrs. Moorehead lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; spending time with family and friends, feeding anyone that needed to be fed, giving much needed advice, and bringing laughter to multitudes.
Mrs. Emma Mae Nance Foster Moorehead, age 91, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2019 in her home. She was born on November 3, 1927 in Huntsville, Alabama, the daughter of Evette and Ophelia Nance. She was preceded in her death by her late husbands, Carol Foster and John Moorehead, daughter Niellen Foster, sons Carol Foster Jr., Carl Foster, Benjamin Foster, and Walter L. Readus. She was also preceded in death by 4 grandchildren, 4 brothers, and 1 sister.
Ms. Moorehead accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.
She is survived by one sister Althea Nance, Chattanooga; four children, James E. Foster, Shelbyville; Mamie L. Ridley, Shelbyville; Carolyn Davis, (John Wayne), Tullahoma; Melissa Bowen (Douglas), Tullahoma, 20 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, 21 great great grandchildren, and many nieces, and nephews.
Although she was the biological mother of 9 children, she was a mother and caretaker to many more. She will truly be missed by all that knew and loved her.
