Minerva (Manerva) Brown Whitlock was the second wife of John Whitlock, born in Halifax Co., VA. on January 25, 1797. He died on April 14, 1881 in Statesville, Wilson Co., TN. Minerva and John had 10 children: Minerva Isabel (Nunley), Mary Malinda (Graves), Nancy, Abner Brown, Isaac Denton, Adaline (Inman, Elizabeth (Bette) Ann, Elijah L., Philip, and America Ludella (Herndon) to the best of my knowledge.
We do not know where John Whitlock is buried, but he and Minerva were in Warren Co., TN., in 1880 for the U.S. Census. His previous wife, Nancy West, died about 1840, and we do not know where she is buried. Perhaps they are buried together in Warren or Wilson Co., Tennessee. They had 13 children. They are: Martha Ann (Rains), Anderson A., Joshua Luster, William Carroll, James Bond, John W., Presley J., Sarah Emeline, Thomas C., Doctor "Doak" Franklin, Elisha Bell, Susan Frances (Hart), and Nancy Jane. Minerva apparently came to Texas where some of her children were living after John Whitlock died.
After a lot of research, we believe John Whitlock is buried in the Whitlock Cemetery in Warren Co., TN>
