Mrs. Earsley Mae Bailey of Staunton, wife of Melvin Thomas Bailey, died Wednesday, Nov. 22 at Kings Daughters Hospital. Born in Monterey, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Louise Puffenbarger Simmons. She was a member of St. Stephens Methodist Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by four sons, Richard E. Bailey of Baltimore, Md., Carl R. Bailey of West Virginia, Garland V. Bailey of Michigan, and Jimmy L. Bailey, Staunton; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Barboa, Harrisonburg, and Mrs. Lena Cook, of Staunton; five brothers, Howard Simmons, New Market, Harry of Bartow, W. Va., Walter of Alexandria, Samuel of Clarksburg, W. Va., and Willie Simmons, Marietta, OH.; a sister, Mrs. Tennia Smith, of Bridgewater, 19 grandchildren; and a number of great grandchildren. The funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 25 from the Fred Henry Funeral Home, Staunton by her pastor, the Rev. Clemmer Matheny. Burial was in Thornrose Cemetery.
