"William Edward Draves was born February 9, 1891 at Chicago, Illinois and entered into death May 8, 1983 at the age of 92 years, 2 months and 29 days.

"At the age of 2 he was moved to Alcester, South Dak[o]ta to make his home with his adopted parents Albert and Alvina Reinart Draves. He grew up in the Alcester area and spent most of his life in Southeastern South Dakota where he worked as a Star Route Mail Carrier. In 1915 he married to Alvine Knoke in Wisconsin. After her death he moved to Hawarden, Iowa and in 1944 at Sioux Falls, he was married to Esther Deway. After Esther's death in 1948, William continued to make his home in Sioux Falls and on April 16, 1949 was married to Lyla Rezac. The couple made their home in Sioux [F]alls until 1957 when they moved to a farm near Alcester. In 1978 they retired and moved into the town of Alcester.

"Mr. Draves was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.

"Among the survivors who gratefully shared his life are his wife, Lyla; one son Russell Draves of Tinley Park, Illinois, two daughters: Bette (Mrs. Glenn Hongslo) of Alcester and Mrs. Mary Jane Fuentes of Lansing, Illinois; Five step-sons: Henry Rezac of Marietta, Georgia, Frank Rezac of Raliegh, North Carolina and John Rezac, Jerry Razac and Ken Munro all of Sioux Falls; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter and one step-son."
