Survived by her father Dr. Roger M. Des Prez of Nashville; mother Dr. Patience Bannister of Alexandria VA ; step-mother Mrs. Patricia W[aterfield] Des Prez of Nashville; sisters Patricia, Julia, and Eleanor Des Prez; and brothers Roger M., Edward, and Walter, all of Nashville.
Private services will be held 2:30 PM Tuesday from St. Bartholemew's Episcopal Church conducted by Rev. Charles Murphy. Memorials may be made to the St. Bartholemew's Church. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Sarah "Sally" Des Prez was independent and strong-willed. She was a 1973 graduate of Hillsboro High School In Nashville. She spent her first year of college in Florida then returned home to Nashville. Sally was a pianist and loved classical music. She was a student at Vanderbilt University when she was murdered in her downtown Nashville apartment that was located near the campus. Van Natta was her maternal grandmother's maiden name.
A cold case detective reopened the investigation in 2007, and advances in DNA science singled out the killer. He was convicted of this murder on 30 Jan 2009 and received an automatic life sentence under the laws that were in effect in 1975.
