Mary Wanton Hazard was born in the Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House. Her mother, Harriet Lyman Hazard and her husband, Benjamin Hazard inherited Harriet's father's, Maj Daniel Lyman's home, the Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House, the oldest surviving house in Newport, now a museum.
She died on September 22, 1910, in her hometown at the impressive age of 95, and was buried there.
Mary never married. She is the granddaughter of the Revolutionary War Veteran, Maj Daniel Lyman (FAG #26994297).
Her middle name of Wanton comes from her maternal grandmother's maiden name. Mary Wanton Lyman 1763–1822 (FAG #26994339 ).
