Robert is preceded in death by his parents, son Douglas "Buddy" Colston, siblings Doug, Nell, James, Maxine, Helen, and Lucille.
He is survived by children Barbara Ward and husband Jack, Kevin Colston and wife Rachel, grandchildren Erik Salazar, Bogar Becerra and wife Madison, and Colby Hudnell, brother Gerald Colston and wife Betty. Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.
Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army where is served in Italy during World War II. Robert attended University of Houston for insurance certification classes. He spent time as a textile worker, brick contractor and mason before moving into the insurance business for over 50 years. In Trinity he worked for C.H. Elliot Real Estate, Trinity Insurance, and Rollo Insurance.
Robert had a wonderful life with many great friends. He was an avid golfer, loved team golf, and was known as "The Putter". He also loved his church. He was a pioneer and founder of Bammel Road Church of Christ of Houston where he served as Deacon and Elder, member of Garden Oaks Church of Christ, and Lovelady Church of Christ.
The family would like to send a sincere thanks to Trinity Rehab and Nursing for the thoughtful care provided to Robert. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity Boys and Girls Club.
