VILLE PLATTE – Memorial services will be held at 12:00 PM at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Saturday, July 13, 2019 for Ronald E. McCauley, Sr., 92, who passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019 in Ville Platte.

Father Mitchell Guidry, pastor of Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, will conduct funeral services.

Ronald E. McCauley, Sr. was born in Mamou, Louisiana on July 12, 1926 to Nealy J. and Agnes McCauley. Following graduation from Ville Platte High School in the early 1940’s, he joined the US Army Air Corps, and served until the end of World War II. After the war, Ronald returned to Ville Platte and married Betty Brunet in 1947. He graduated from Coyne Electrical School in Chicago and ran McCauley’s Furniture & Gifts for nearly 40 years. He served the community in many capacities including as a member of the Advisory Board of the Evangeline bank, a member of the board and one-time president of the Ville Platte Country Club, president of the Ville Platte Chamber of Commerce, one of the founders and a board member for 5 decades of the Te-Mamou Water Board, retiring at 92. He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and a long-time parishioner at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, where he served as an usher until the age of 92.
He is survived by four daughters, Carmen Sampognaro (Joe), Renée Manaris (Bill), Phyllis Richards, Stephanie Dupuis, one son, Ron McCauley Jr. (Krista), twelve grandchildren, Buck Dupuis, Samantha Rougeau, Paul Sampognaro, Philip Sampognaro, Adam Richards, Taylor Douget, Edward Sampognaro, James Sampognaro, Lily Richards, Zois Manaris, Betty Manaris, and Ronald (Trey) McCauley III , eight great grandchildren. Also left behind to cherish his memories are his brother Dr. Carol McCauley and sister Patsie Frederickson.

Ronald was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Betty McCauley, daughter Donna McCauley, wife Wanda McCauley, sister Lou Ellen (Sis) Reed, and his parents Nealy J. and Agnes McCauley.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Saturday, July 13 from 10:00 AM until time of service. After Mass, a military service will take place at church followed by a reception at the Family Life Center.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to either Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church ( 1220 West Dardeau Street Ville Platte, LA 70586 phone 337-363-5167) or the Evangeline ARC ( 109 West Lasalle Street Ville Platte, LA 70586 phone 337-363-0649).
