George F. Peterson, 81, Kokomo, passed away 2:29 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2007. He was born in Central City, Ky., on Nov. 22, 1925, to Marion and Ella (Walker) Peterson. On July 14, 1946, he married Mable M. Bowles Peterson , who preceded him in death.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944, and served on the USS Antietam during World War II. He enjoyed working with antique cars and fishing. He was employed at Chrysler Casting Plant as a die setter for 30 years before his retirement in 1987. He attended Bible Baptist Church in Kokomo.

He is survived by his two children, Suzanne Wilcox and husband Tim and George Peterson Jr., all of Kokomo; grandchildren, Jennifer Russell, Carmel, Heather Simmons, Michigan, Ryan Joyce, and Andrea Best, both of Kokomo, and Joshua Nelson, Florida; and a sister, Floy Morris, Greenville, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Percifield; brother, Lloyd Peterson; sisters, Marie Emmons and Bertha Hahn; and his parents.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, Kokomo, with the Rev Dan Murphy of Bible Baptist Church officiating.
