DEATH OF MR. W. MOUNT.
'TIS not alone on the battlefield that the Reaper uses his scythe. It becomes our sad duty now to give some details of the death of Mr William Mount [which was mentioned in last issue], which occurred at his residence on Saturday last at 11 a.m.,the cause being a stroke supervening on heart trouble. He was in his 73rd year. The deceased was the only son of the late Mrs August Lefevre, and was born at Pyrmont, Sydney. During his long life he engaged in agricultural pursuits, and the principal part of his time was spent on Tumut Plains. About 44 years ago he married Miss Jane Clark, a ward of Mrs Thos. Linkbeck's, and the result of their union was one son, Charles William, and three daughters, viz: Mrs W. Emery, Mrs A.Nuttall of Tumut, and Miss Ada, who died some years ago in the Sydney Hospital. The departed one was a hard-working, temperate, unobtrusive man, of a kindly disposition and a general favorite with all who knew him. Some years ago ho had a seizure of sunstroke, and ever since complained of vertigo, and dizziness whenever he attempted to stoop, so much so that his affectionate wife was always very reluctant to leave him alone, fearing he might, when lighting a fire, fall into it. In his later years he was compelled to lead a retired life and, disposing of his interest on Tumut Plains, purchased from Mr W. Stokes allotment 9 of sec. 46, town of Tumut, with cottage thereon, and filled in his spare time gardening. Seeing that he was up town a day or so previous to his death, apparently in his usual state of health, his sudden demise was totally unexpected and came as a rude shock to his wife and family. The remains were interred in the C.of E. portion of the new cemetery on Sunday and the funeral was one of large dimensions —50 vehicles and over 50 horsemen. Mr Jas Elphick carried out the mortuary arrange ments and Rev C. E. Burgess officiated at the grave.
