"FORMER CANTRIL RESIDENT DIES - A. Linn Passes Away at Fowler, Col., After A Long Illness

After making a valiant fight against an attack of Bright's disease for several months, A. Linn died Monday afternoon at his home in Fowler, Colo., in the presence of his family. Alonzo Linn was born in the state of Pennsylvania, on March 31, 1843, and was 69 years of age his last birthday anniversary. At that time there, a family reunion, in his honor, and shortly thereafter, Mr. Linn's condition became serious. From that time on his health has been anything but good and as time passed he had grown gradually weaker.

From Pennsylvania Mr. Linn moved with his parents to West Point, Lee county, Iowa, when the subject of this sketch was but 2 years of age. On August 4, 1870, Mr. Linn was married in Ft. Madison, Iowa, to Miss Keren H. Richardson. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Scotland county, Mo., where they lived for 4 years, and then returned to Van Buren county, Ia. Here they lived for 28 years on the old homestead, which had been the home of Mr. Linn's parents for many years. Just prior to Christmas day in the year 1905, Mr. and Mrs. Linn and family went to Colorado and located in Rocky Ford, where they lived one year before moving to Fowler. Mr. Linn was a tiler of soil until he went to Colorado, since which time he led a retired life. Mr. Linn was one of a family of 5 children and of this number one brother and one sister are living. They are Milton Linn and Miss Amelia Linn of Cantril, Iowa.

To Mr. and Mrs. Linn were born 9 children, of whom seven are living. One died in infancy, and Bessie E. Linn of Cantril died at the age of 19. The living children are: Mrs. Dora M. Hoskin, of Rocky Ford; Howard M. Linn, of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Herman J. Linn, of Mt. Sterling, Iowa; Fred N. Linn, of Benonine, Texas; Ralph W. Linn, of Cantril, Iowa: Roy T. Linn, of Las Animas, Colo.; and Lewis C. Linn, of Rocky Ford."

The above obituary was from a newspaper clipping I found in my mother's things. Neither the name of the newspaper, nor the date were given.

Note: Although his stone says he was born in 1850, his obituary and family history states he was born in 1843.
