Daughter of Jasper N. & Nancy McDaris Allman.
Previously married to Thomas Edison Hunter, July 13, 1913 in Buncombe County, NC, by Rev. J.M. Pickens and witnessed by E.A. Roberts, J.K. Pickens, and J.F. Fisher. They were the parents of several children prior to their divorce.
She was a native of Madison County and had lived in Buncombe County for 30 years. She attended Mars Hill College and Tusculum College of Tennessee, and was retired from school teaching in Wake and Madison Counties. She had also once worked for Ruth’s Originals in Asheville. She was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church.
Survived by two daughters, Erma Leona Chick of Sanford, FL, and Christine Ducker of Asheville; a son, Woodrow Hunter of Mars Hill; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and a sister, Alta Allman of Burnsville.
Funeral services: Wednesday, October 24, 1979, Anders-Rice Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Alfred E. Sellers.
