Keith B Gilbert was born June 2, 1925 in Red Cloud, Nebraska to Harold and Vera (Hatfield) Gilbert. He attended Red Cloud High School. On November 3, 1942 he married Erma Jean Broughton, his dancing partner for life. Keith served his country proudly during World War II by enlisting in the US Coast Guard on October 4, 1943 and served on the Frigate, El Paso. He received an Honorable Discharge on December 29, 1945.

After his discharge from the military Keith worked as an inspector at the Hastings Naval Ammunition Depot. He started his meat cutting career in Red Cloud and worked in many different grocery stores and meat processing plants in the area until his retirement. He was a member of the Blue Hill Methodist Church, the American Legion and the Masons.

Keith & Jean enjoyed picnicking, camping, fishing and hunting with their kids. On retiring they enjoyed crafts, wood working and going to garage sales.

Keith was proceeded in death by his parents, Harold & Vera Gilbert; his wife Erma Jean; one brother Robert Gilbert, Two Daughters-in-law, Dianne Gilbert & Kathy Gilbert: two granddaughters, Kelly Gilbert & Kandace Fisher; step great granddaughter, Ellie Scherbarth; nephews, Jeffrey Krueger, David Broughton, Terry Scott, Tommy Scott and Chris Gilbert.

Survivors include two daughters: Bonita (Gary) Fisher, Louisville, Ks; Nikki(Doug) Terry, Columbus, NE; Six sons; Keith E (Ann) Gilbert Seattle, Wa; Richard(Robin) Gilbert, Clay Center, NE; Steve(Sheri)Gilbert, Norfolk, NE; Kent(Laura)Gilbert, Hastings, NE; Brad(Tonna)Gilbert & Tim(Julie)Gilbert, Blue Hill, NE.; 17 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 13 step grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
