Before their marriage, he was a farmer and she taught in a one-room school house. After their marriage they lived in Baileyville , Axtell, Topeka, Soldier KS, and briefly in Thermopolis, Wyoming. In 1928 they settled in Manhattan, KS, where he was a barber. After the 1951 flood they moved to St. Marys. She taught music privately and in public schools. They had three children:
1. Max Harwood Casebeer (b 31 Mar 1917, d 14 Sep 1996)
