Musician. Born Randy Craig Wolfe in Los Angeles, California, he was a lead guitarist, singer and songwriter. He is best known for being a founding member of the late 1960s rock band 'Spirit'. In 1968, their self titled album debuted with hits to include "Fresh Garbage", "I Got a Line On You" and their album "Twelve Dreams Of Dr. Sardonicus" with the number one hit "Nature's Way". After he left 'Spirit' in 1971, he was a member of the rock group โ€˜Jo Jo Gunne' and recorded solo albums to include "Kapt. Kopter & The Fabulous Twirly Birds" (1972), "Euro-American" (1982) and "Restless" (1985). While rescuing his twelve-year-old son from a rip current in the waters of Hawaii, he managed to push his son (who survived) towards the shore but could not save himself from the strong undercurrent which swept him away.
