Milton L. Highberger, 75, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at his home with a brief illness.

He was born Aug. 26, 1931, to Paul and Lydia Gifford Highberger in Westphalia.

He married Mona Lou Laycox Nov. 14, 1952, in Fort Riley. She survives.

At an early age, the family moved to Wichita where he attended Blessed Sacrament and St. Mary's Cathedral High School and graduated in 1949.

He was inducted into the 10th Infantry Division at Fort Riley in 1952. He served in the Korean conflict in the 27th Regiment Wolfhound. He received his honorable discharged July 22, 1960.

He moved to Greensburg, where he worked for Citi Service Gas Company from June 2, 1948, to 1963. He then moved to Straight, Okla., and worked for the company until retiring as a district coordinator on Jan. 1, 1992.

Other survivors include five children, Mike Highberger and wife, Julie, Sterling, Colo., Jill Pollart and husband, Andy, Syracuse, Patty Wanger and husband, Rod, Stillwater, Okla., Tim Highberger and wife, Edna, Hooker, Okla., and Joe Highberger and wife, Desiree', Enid, Okla.; 10 grandchildren, Cade and Kyle Crawford, Justin, Alisha, and Shayna Highberger, Hunter McEachern and Blake Highberger, Kelsey Pollart, Tabitha Tennant, and Amber Highberger; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Jude Highberger, Topeka; one sister, Cathryn Black, Goodyear, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert and Kenneth, and one sister, Eleanor.

* Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with the Rev. Bill Pruitt and the Rev. Don Highberger presiding.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Catholic Church.

Burial will follow Mass of Christian Burial at Elmhurst Cemetery.
