John E. "Jack" Barnes. age 85, a former Valders resident, passed away early Saturday morning, December 31, 2016 at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Jack was born on March 3,1931 in Manitowoc, son of the late Edward J. and Grace (O'Brien) Barnes. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1950. After high school, he enlisted and served in the United States Air Force. On May 5, 1956 he married the former Shirley Pribek, in Miami,FL. Jack was employed with the FAA at the Chicago O'Hare International Airport. Jack was a true Irishman who loved carpentry.
Woodworking, playing golf and had a passion for wildlife and birds. Jack enjoyed deep sea fishing in Port Aransas, TX., working on his property and in his workshop. Jack loved to gift friends and family with his wood cravings, homemade furniture and special unique creations.
Survivors include his wife of 60 yrs: Shirley Barnes, Manitowoc: two daughters and sons-in-law: Christi and Russ Hall, Nashville, TN: Kelly and Ron Pratscher, Palatine,IL: five grandchildren: Ryan and Brett Hall, Jonathon, Jordan and Jenae Pratscher: two sisters: Edith Rusboldt, Two Rivers; Helen Sykora, Marshall, MI. Nieces, nephews,other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law: Henry Rusboldt and Harry Sykora.
Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc and funeral services will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton, on Thursday January 5th at 10:30 a.m. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev David Beaudry.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, January 5th, 2017 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
